A Zamfara Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded15-year-old Umaru Abu of Dutsi village, Anka Local Government Area, for killing a five-year-old boy.
The Prosecutor, Mr Daniel Longwal, told the court that, on July 10, one Ibrahim Muhammad, of Manya Daudu village in Anka, reported the case to the Anka police station.
Longwal said that the accused deceived the deceased, Abdulaziz Ibrahim, into a farm to go and catch birds.
The prosecutor further said that the accused killed Ibrahim instead of a bird and ran away after the act.
He added that the offence contravened sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded guilty, saying that he was sent to kill the boy by one Damlamso Na-Muhammad, now at-large.
“He promised to give me N15,000 if I kill the boy, but after strangling the boy to death, he refused to pay me the money as promised.
“I ran away from home after the killing, but when I heard that the police arrested my father, I decided to hand myself over to the police so that my father will not be punished,” he said.
The acting Chief Magistrate, Alhaji Umar Abdullahi, ordered the remand the accused in a remand home.
The case was adjourned to Aug. 29 for further hearing. (NAN)
