Contrary to general belief that the immediate interest of the newly registered All Progressives Congress (APC) is to snatch power at the centre from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the opposition party has said it has not set its sight yet on the 2015 presidential elections.
According to Chief Bisi Akande, APC’s interim national chairman, the party’s major focus now is its national convention slated for either October or November.
Mr. Akande made this known on Tuesday in Abuja after the inauguration of APC’s interim leadership at its national secretariat in the nation’s capital.
The party also constituted several committees including one on the November 16 governorship poll in Anambra and another on party structure headed by a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Masari.
The party is also planning to fine-tune its manifesto as well as embark on a nationwide membership drive.
