Founder of the National Parent-Teacher Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN), Alhaji Babs Animasaun has on behalf of parents, urged the Federal Government to meet the demands of striking university lecturers at all costs to end the strike.
“I am seriously appealing to the Federal Government, on behalf of Nigerian parents, to end the strike and make education a top priority.
“We should save the education sector from imminent collapse,” Animasaun told News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.
He noted that the government voluntarily entered into an agreement with the union in 2009 to fund universities better and meet some other demands of the union, and should stand by the agreement, adding that the nation’s education sector needed urgent government attention.
“The Federal Government must at all costs meet the demands of the union to save the future of our children,” he said.
I think it is high time our government begins to see that Education will continue to play a vital roll in our society. Moreover, we need to invest or pump in more money on our Educational sector in order for it to grow and sustainable.
