Bale “Unhappy” About AVB’s “He is Not For Sale” Comments.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale is reportedly “unhappy and disappointed” about comments made by Andre Villas-Boas (AVB) concerning Real Madrid’s interest on the Welsh player.

Real manager Carlo Ancelotti has said contract talks were in progress over signing Bale, who scored 26 goals for Tottenham last season, with a world record transfer fee expected to be paid for the 24-year-old’s services.

Speaking after Spurs’ 5-2 loss to Monaco in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, Villas-Boas disproved and criticised the Spanish giants over their approach towards signing last season’s PFA and Young Player of the season.

“The rumours that anything is imminent are not true,” said AVB. “We allowed ourselves conversations with Real Madrid, confirmed by their coach- I think wrongly.”

Apart from featuring in the first-half of Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against Swindon on 16 July, Bale has missed the game against Colchester and did not feature in the Asia Trophy matches, neither did he on Saturday. The Welshman is believed to be nursing a minor foot injury.

“He picked up a pain in his foot from his individual training so he’s recovered from the (earlier) injury he had to his gluteus,” explained Villas-Boas.

Villas-Boas also insisted that the Wales international is very much among his plan for next season, reiterating the club’s stance that he is not for sale.

“We are looking towards the future with Gareth,” added Villas-Boas.

“In football anything is possible but what we’ve communicated so far is that we are not willing to concede to their (Real Madrid) interest in the player.”

Bale has not tendered a transfer request yet and Sky Sports reporter Amy Lewis has revealed that the winger is unhappy with Villas-Boas’ comments, adding that a world record deal over £80m will be agreed soon.

“I’ve been speaking to a source close to Gareth Bale, who says that Bale is both unhappy and disappointed by the comments his manager made in that interview. In particular that he is not for sale,” Sky Sports reporter Lewis said.

“It’s not clear whether Bale will put in a transfer request but the source is still pretty confident that the player will be moving to Real Madrid. Nothing is imminent though.”
