Newly promoted Cardiff City have renewed their interest in West Brom forward Osaze Odemwingie.
Osaze, who has been training with the Baggies’ reserves, has been the subject of transfer speculations since January with Queens Park Rangers (QPR), Hull City, Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Ham all having gotten into the frame of the Nigeria international’s potential buyer.
Cardiff manager Malky Mackay says the Welsh club are hopeful of further strengthening their squad before the end of the transfer window.
“We still have three or four irons in the fire and we have until September 2nd (when the transfer window closes),” said Malkay.
It is left to be seen if Cardiff will meet West Brom’s valuation for the forward, who has one year left in his contract.
Steve Clark was forced to slice the club’s £4.5m valuation for the unsettled striker by less than half, in a bid to ensure an agreement is reached before the summer transfer deadline but no suitor has matched the £2m price tag on the 31-year-old.
West Brom rejected an ÂŁ850,000 bid from Al Nasr of Dubai last month, nevertheless, Cardiff are now expected to table a formal bid for the former Lokomotiv Moscow striker.
