The President of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria, Chief Solomon Ogba will, on August 9, be decorated with the Moscow 2013- IAAF Veteran Pin by Lamine Diack, the President of the IAAF reports the Sports Vanguard.
The award holds on the eve of the 14th IAAF World Championship in Moscow, same day IAAF Council meets with the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The award has been reported to be in recognition of Ogba’s contributions to the development of athletics in Nigeria.
“The IAAF will honour Ogba for his efforts at ensuring Nigeria regained her pride of place in world athletics,” an AFN source said.
Ogba’s reign as president of AFN has seen Nigeria enter for numerous athletic championships such as the Diamond League with the onus of taking charge of funding Nigerian athletes for such events.
