Jonathan Mourns over Tragic Death of Jigawa Deputy Speaker

President Goodluck Jonathan on August 16, 2013, Friday, commiserated with the family of the late Deputy Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Inuwa Udi, the Speaker, members of the Assembly and the government and people of Jigawa State over the death of the Deputy Speaker in a ghastly car accident on Thursday.

jigawa_depMr. Udi alongside his driver, Mas’ud Ringim, died in an auto accident along Kano-Ringim road during a heavy down pour.

Mr. Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, made the statement available to public, expressing utter shock at the accident. He described the death of Inuwa Udi as “very painful and untimely”. The President’s statement also said Jigawa State and the nation would miss the legislative experience of Honourable Udi, a third-term member of the State House of Assembly.

President Jonathan prayed that God Almighty would console members of the Udi family and grant the soul of the departed lawmaker peaceful rest.
