JTF Alerts Residents Of Maiduguri And Environs To Impending Boko Haram Attack

boko-haramResidents of Maiduguri and other parts of Borno State have been warned by the Joint Task Force (JTF) – Operation Restore Order – to be on alert as there are plans by Boko Haram insurgents to stage “massive” attack in the state any moment from now and during the Eid-Fitr celebration.

JTF spokesman, Sagir Musa in a statement said “In the continued efforts to destroy all acts of terrorism in Borno State, the Joint Task Force (JTF) wishes to alert citizens and residents of the state of the impending plans by Boko Haram terrorists to carry out massive attacks and bombings in Maiduguri metropolis and other parts of Borno State any moment from now and during the Eid-Fitr celebration.”

According to Musa, a Nigerian Army Lieutenant Colonel, members of the public are advised to be more concerned and vigilante about their immediate environments.

“The public are also reminded to be cautious and report any suspicious movement, actions and abandoned objects in public places particularly those in polythene bags and other sacks to the nearest security check points for immediate action” the statement said.


He said though curfew has been reviewed from 11pm to 6am, the JTF was carrying out continuous checks throughout the night in order to ensure safety, security of lives and properties as well as to consolidate on the successes recorded in the collective fight against terrorism.
