Glo Nigeria Premier League champions, Kano Pillars, were in an auto crash the day after losing out of the 2013 Federations Cup to Warri Wolves.
Supersport.com reports that the team was on its way back to Kano from Ilorin, the venue of the round of 16 match, when the accident occurred in Ganganrida local government in Kaduna State.
The Vehicle conveying Pillars had a Tyre-burst and then collided with a stationery trailer packed by the roadside as a mechanic has been reported to have lost his life instantly.
Head coach of the team, Mohammed Baba Ganaru, was at first reported to be unconscious, while his condition has been said to be improving this morning but the players are in good condition.
“Baba ganaru is getting better,” Kano Pillars’ Spokesman Idris Malikawa told supersport.com. “This morning, he met members of his family at the hospital. There is a marked improvement in his condition when compared to when he was admitted.”
Assistant coach, Kabir Baleria, sustained a serious head injury and is currently undergoing treatment at the Murtala Hospital in Kano as ordered by Kano State Commissioner for Sports, Professor Umar Jubril.
