World number one Novak Djokovic will open his US Open campaign against Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis while Rafael Nadal, who has been drawn in the same half as Roger Federer, will take on American Ryan Harrison in the first round.
Third seed, Murray will have to see off Djokovic in the semi-final as he’s been drawn in the same half as the Serb. The 26-year-old could set up a possible last 16 tie with Spaniard Nicolas Almagro and Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals on the road to a repeat of his successful 2012 campaign when he won his first Grand Slam.
In the women’s draw, defending champion Serena Williams will open against Italy’s Francesca Schiavone.
British 30th seed Laura Robson sets up a first round game against Spaniard Lourdes Dominiguez Lino while compatriot, Heather Watson will face Romania’s Simone Halep.
