N/East PDP Leads ‘Please Don’t Dump Us’ Campaign To Atiku In Abuja

Atiku1dpFormer Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has assured that despite the registration of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), a party floated by his associates, he will not be leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former VP gave the assurance when the North East zonal executive of the PDP paid him a visit in his residence in Abuja.

The PDP zonal leaders had pleaded with Atiku not to leave the PDP for the PDM.

Leaders of the party from the zone declared their support for the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur-led PDP and assured Atiku that the party is intact in the zone just as they pledged to bring all the stakeholders on board to uplift the party.

North East zonal chairman of PDP, Senator Lawal Girgir, who led members of the executive on the visit to Atiku, said the delegation came to identify with him and seek his support on how to elevate the party in the zone and provide a lasting solution to the problems confronting the party in the zone.

He stressed that funding of the zonal chapter had become the major factor limiting its progress and sought the intervention of Atiku to uplift the zone both politically and economically.

In his response, the former VP told the leadership of the party to cleanse itself and urged it to be fearless, just as he urged them to remain unrelenting in the face of intimidation so as to enhance the chances of the zone in future elections.

Atiku reiterated his membership of the PDP and told the delegation to disregard reports of his alleged movement to the PDM.

Zonal publicity secretary of the party in the North East, Alhaji Al-Amin Sani Muhammed told reporters after the meeting that the visit was a sign of respect to the former Vice President as a major stake holder in the PDP.
