Mr. Ogbonna Nwuke, member representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency of Rivers State in the House of Representatives, has frowned at the arrest and detention of pro-Governor Rotimi Amaechi supporters in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his constituency.
Nwuke, in a statement made available to journalists in Port Harcourt on Thursday, accused the police of bias in the lingering political faceoff in the state.
The federal lawmaker averred that the police were expected to live above board by being impartial in the discharge of their duties in the state.
“I condemn the arbitrary arrests and detention of my constituents. People should be allowed to express their minds. It is against the tenets of our democracy. The anti-Amaechi leaders and groups are attacking the governor and the Rivers State Government on a daily basis”, Nwuke said.
“Nobody has touched them (anti-Amaechi groups). So, why should they arrest persons in my constituency, who are only expressing their minds and political affiliation? This is a clear case of intimidation and victimization,” he stressed.
Hon why are you people complaining more than the reality? The problem is something simple that the Gov infected on Rivers State people for selfish reasons and no one of you are seeking for him to embrace peace as his followers yet you identify those fighting against him. Be a good leader by saying the truth and not misleading the masses, because the CP refused to be used by the Gov CRA so any thing he does is against the state. God will expose you all soon.
