Sokoto IPP Set For Test-Run As Obasanjo Warms Up To Commission 20m Gallons Capacity Water Project

olusegun-obasanjoSokoto State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko, has revealed that the N3.8billion Sokoto Independent Power Plant (IPP) is to undergo a test-run next month.

The test-run comes on the heels of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s scheduled visit to the state where he would commission the 20 million gallons capacity water project undertaken by the state government at Asare village on 29 August.

Gov. Wamakko made this known when Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III paid him the traditional sallah homage in Sokoto.

The governor stated that all the equipments for the project are already at the site.

“When completed, the Independent Power Project would generate 30MW of electricity to the State,” he added.

Gov. Wamakko also said that the State University would be commissioned on 1 October.

In his address, the Sultan of Sokoto reiterated the readiness of the sultanate council to assist the government towards the progress of the State and the good of the people.

He commended the Governor for the development programmes and projects in the State.
