We’ll Oppose Attempts To Return Rivers PDP Structure To Amaechi’s Camp – Wike

Amaechi-WikeThe war of acrimony between Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi worsened yesterday with the former declaring that the structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state will not be handed over to the latter.

Wike, a former ally of the governor explained that Amaechi’s supporters had demanded a return of the party structure to them as a condition for peace in the crisis-ridden state.

It would be recalled that Wike, with the tacit support of the presidency has been involved in a long drawn battle of supremacy with Amaechi over the control of the party structure and state House of Assembly.

But speaking on Sunday at the inauguration of the Grassroots Development Initiative members, Wike, who is the grand patron of GDI, said since the state was not an emirate or a monarchy, the structure of the state PDP would not return to Amaechi’s camp.

He said, “I was watching television last night and I heard some of them saying that one of the conditions they have given is that they should give the party structure to the governor.

“But I say we do not operate emirate system. We do not operate a monarchical system. So, we do not ‘dash’ out party structure. The people voted for them. So, we cannot ‘dash’ out party structure. The people voted for him. So we cannot ‘dash’ them anything.”

The minister, who drummed up support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term in office, urged them not to relent in their supporting of the President.

Speaking at the occasion, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Chibudom Nwuche, said the people had been deceived in the past, adding that the masses would not be deceived again.

  1. I wonder why it took you just a few moment to forget who clothed you in rainy season. Same man that sent you to Abuja is been crucified by you, shame on you Wike, Let me remind you that your so called Oga at the Top rejected your nomination and preferred that a woman be nominated instead of you, but Amechi insisted in making you relevant in this country. You now pay him back with insubordination, God will disgrace you.
For record purpose, i do not speak for Amechi, I am, independent.
