Zone 2015 APC Presidential Ticket To Igbos In Spirit Of Unity – S/East Forum

APC-LogoAn Igbo socio-cultural group, the South East Forum, has urged the newly-registered All Progressive Congress (APC) to zone the 2015 presidential ticket to the South-East to deepen unity.

The call came less than 48 hours after the opposition coalition, APC, formally received the status of a political party from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The electoral body approved the application by three political parties– the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) — to merge into one political party.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, the chairman of the forum, Austin Nnorom, said that zoning the presidency to the South- East would further guarantee the continued unity of the nation.

“While we congratulate APC over its registration we hereby advice the party to zone its 2015 presidential ticket to the Igbos.

“It is only fair that the Igbos, hitherto marginalized in power sharing, be given their turn to rule the nation,” he said.

  • d forming of apc is a good idea but not with fashola whom i personally see as a racist,demon nd evil in all his agenda.he has turned lagos to his personal estate.what power does he possess to determine who stays or go out of lagos state.

  • South East forum(SEF) does not represent the true Igbos on matters of 2015 elections.On Jonthan we Stand.Please we dont want any confusion.Jonathan in the intrest of equity should go for second term.After Ndi Igbo will go there turn for eight years.Then we will support the Middle Belt for their terms before it will become free for all irrespective of where you come from.For now we have nothing to do with APC.We know the real cordinators of it with far North in control.APC though will not augur well.

  • SURVIVAL OF APC WILL DEPEND ON THE FOLLOWINGS;
    1. The election of ‘consensus candidates’ to elective posts must be encouraged, not ‘imposed consensus’, bcos the rumour mills were/are agog that Asiwaju & Buhari imposed candidates under ACN and CPC. This must be eliminated under APC, even if a ward, LG, State or Federal has only 10 registered members, let them elect their Leaders.
    2. If Dr. Jonathan crosses over to APC, let him be given a second term under this umbrella, but if not feasible, equity requires/demands that Presidential candidates for primaries in APC should be zoned to the South East for them to ‘elect a consensus candidate’ from amongst them.
    3, All elected candidates under APC to National Assembly to enact laws when they get there to immediately reduce by 50% remunerations/emoluments of all political office holders, change the budgetary allocation formulae, so that education gets the lion % allocation and not recurrent expenditure, followed by infrastructure, agriculture, etc. Audit all MDA’s at Fed, state & LG levels and weed out deadwood/political appointees.
    4. Massive youth empowerment projects, agricultural revolution, ban all fuel carrying trucks from our highways, invest in railways to take over movement of fuel & allied products. Trucks can then be used to move products from railway stations to points of deliveries, ie filling stations or major depots in states, where available.
    5. LG administration to be totally independent from state govts control for effective rural development, which will invariably, reduce urban migration to the barest minimum.
    6. Finally, convocation of SNC within 2 yrs in office after 2015 victory for APC.
