The International Olympic Committee (IOC) wants the Federation of International Football Association (Fifa) to consult them before going ahead to move the 2022 World Cup as it could clash with the Winter Olympics.

Fifa Executive Committee will meet in Zurich on October 3-4 and are expected to agree in principle to move the tournament to the winter at the meeting.
The 2022 Qatar World Cup could be switched to January and February, the same period set aside for the 2022 Winter Games.
Temperatures could hit 50ºC in Qatar in the summer and the world football governing body a bent on averting the dangers of extreme heat on players and spectators.
“We are confident that Fifa will discuss the dates with us so as to co-ordinate them and avoid any effect on the Winter Games,” said an IOC spokesperson.
Europe’s 54 member associations agreed on having the tournament staged in winter months on Thursday, but are believed to favour moving the competition to January 2022 rather than November and December of that year so that it will not impact on the Champions League.
