Ameobi Set to Be Sidelined for Three Weeks.

There are indications Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi may miss out on Super Eagles’ trip to Ethiopia on October 12 for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers first-leg playoff game due to injury.

Ameobi picked up a knock during the international friendly match between Nigeria and Burkina Faso last week in Kaduna, where he scored his first international goal.

While briefing the media at a press conference on Friday, Magpies manager Alan Pardew revealed the Nigerian might be sidelined for three weeks.

“Shola’s not available again, and could be out for one to three weeks,” Pardew said.

However, the manager did not reveal the extent of the injury but the veteran is not expected to return to action until the period before the qualifier, which means he might be lacking match fitness.

He is likely to miss Newcastle’s home game against Hull City and the trip to Everton and Cardiff.
