Controversial Paul Pogba’s Strike Seals Derby Victory for Juventus.

A Paul Pogba match winner made all the difference as Juventus edged local rivals Torino 1-0 to maintain their unbeaten record at the start of the Italian Serie A.

A perfect delivery into the box saw Carlos Tevez hit the crossbar before the former Manchester United player headed in from close range. Replay show Tevez was clearly offside and the goal should not have counted.

Torino has found it difficult to score a goal against coach Antonio Conte’s men for the past eleven years and Sunday’s Derby della Mole added to their anguish as they’ve not won the Turin derby since 1995. They failed to produce clear-cut goalscoring chances throughout the 90 minutes.

Pogba almost got the defending champions in the ascendancy on 15 minutes when his effort from distance was held by Daniele Padelli, and the visitors dominated for the rest of the first-half with Sebastian Giovinco and Claudio Marchiso both failing to make the best of goalscoring opportunities.

Juventus returned into the second-half with greater motivation and determination to maintain their unbeaten run and keep up with the pace of other Serie A title contenders.

Six minutes after the interval, Tevez played in Giovinco through at goal but saw his low effort saved by the feet of Padelli, the ball then broke to Ghanaian export Kwado Asamoah, whose shot was deflected for a corner.

Juve’s pressure at goal paid off in the 54th minute when another corner-kick was flicked on for Tevez, who se header came off the crossbar, before Pogba stooped to nod in the rebound.

They remained in contention for a second goal in the remainder of the match and almost got one when Mirko Vucinic’s volley was palmed away by Padelli in the 84th minute.

Roma will have the chance to go top of the log when they face Bologna later on Sunday.
