This was according to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Godsday Orubebe, on Friday when he met with Niger Delta Youth for Physical Development (NDYPD) and National Association of Niger Delta Women in Uyo.
Orubebe said the Federal Government was going to recruit 500 youths from across the nine states of the Niger Delta.
“They will be assembling ipad and telephones and we have also sorted out automatic employment for the youth that are coming in.
“They will be trained in the centre there. After the training they will be employed automatically,’’ he said.
Orubebe said that the selection of beneficiaries would be equitable across the nine states of the region.
“We will give equal number to the nine states of Niger Delta. Once you have secondary school certificate, you will be selected as one of the lucky ones to be part.
“We expect that all the youth groups should work with our Director of Youth in the ministry,’’ Orubebe said.
According to him, the centre is going to be a Public-Private Partnership and will focus on oil and gas as well as Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Orubebe said the other centres in eight states would focus on maritime and agriculture training, adding that the purpose was to give the youth the required skills.
He urged the youth to embrace peace to enable governments to develop the area.
