Metuh, Kema Chiwke Re-emerge Winners At PDP Convention

Chief Olisa Metuh has won the election to the position of National Publicity Secretary of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by defeating his challenger, Tony Wabuona 1969 votes to 129.

Metuh, who is having a second shot at the office he vacated in June following the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s observation that the process through which 12 out of the 16-member PDP National Working Committee (NWC) emerged in the party’s 2012 national convention was unacceptable and illegal.

Other winners of the contested positions at the recently concluded special national convention include the Deputy National Chairman, Uche Secondus; national treasurer, Bala Gwandu Labbo; Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Maidugu Bashir; National Organising Secretary, Mustapher Abubakar; and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, Mr. Jalo Ibrahim.

Others are the Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Nnadozie Okechukwu;  National Legal Adviser, Kwon Victor Yusuf; Deputy National Financial Secretary, Gwalabe Auwalu abdu; and Deputy National Secretary, Solomon Onwe.

For the position of Women Leader, Kema Chikwe got re-elected to the office by defeating Ann Nosike, while Enegesi Claudius Godsave clinched the Deputy National Treasurer position.

Mr. Lawal Anche got 2221 to become National Deputy Auditor.

The elected officials were handed their certificate of return and were sworn-in thereafter.

Deputy National Chairman, Secondus, who spoke on behalf of the elected NWC members, pledged their loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan and the party.

The event came to a climax with the adoption of a motion for the adjournment of the mini-convention by a former chairman of the party, Dr. Haliru Bello.
