Okon Drops Six Players From Falcons’ Build Up for Japan Friendly.

Caretaker coach of the senior national women team Super Falcons, Edwin Okon, on Tuesday, dropped six players from the invited 40 for the two-match international friendly against Japan in the cities of Isahaya and Chiba on September 22 and 26.

The dropped players are Delta Queens goalkeeper, Dikachi Uzor, Sunshine Queens defender, Funsho Osurinayo, Nasarawa Amazons defender, Margaret Dike, FCT Queens striker, Temitope Adebowale, Rivers Angels forward, Mercy Amanze and FC Robo striker Maria Oke.

According to coach Okon, five more players will be dropped this weekend to bring the final number of those that will eventually travel to the Asian state to 21.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical and Development Committee has said a substantive coach will be named for the women team after the Japan friendly as the Rivers Angels handler has been given the mandate to handle the friendly game between the six-time African champions against the reigning world champions.
