PDP Crisis: Reps’ll Put National Interest First Above Partisan Politics – Deputy Minority Leader

House of RepsDeputy minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon Samaila Kawu (APC, Kano) has revealed the existence of a plot masterminded by some external forces to ride on the back of the current crisis rocking the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, to cause disaffection in the lower chamber, but that the lawmakers will not be distracted.

Also, Rep Kawu dismissed the plot to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan saying this would not be on the agenda of the House when it resumes next week.

“We are using this opportunity to call on those people who may want to use the crisis in the PDP to forment trouble in the house to stay away “, he said, adding, “We won’t allow anybody to divide us.‎

He added, “The present crisis is a PDP affair and has nothing to do with the house as a by-partisan parliament which puts away party affiliation for national interest.

“It is obvious that some people are very jittery over the mass movement of PDP members to the New PDP and even other political parties and in their desperate attempts to cause trouble and confusion they may want to capitalise on the crisis to ferment trouble in the house; they should stay away from the house,” he reiterated.
