Pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has hailed the emergence of a faction within the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) saying ‘it is good for democracy.’
The one-time presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) made this known in a series of tweets yesterday.
Information Nigeria recalled that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, seven PDP governors and others staged a walk-out from the ruling party’s special convention on Saturday at Eagle Square from where they left for the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre where they announced their own faction of PDP.
However, Ribadu warns that the move must not be to further individual immediate interests but to deepen ‘our nascent democracy’.
