Mantu, who was speaking yesterday at the inauguration of the 44-member Elders Committee of the Goodluck Support Group, in Abuja, expressed optimism that despite the crisis rocking the ruling party, the caliber of politicians which the PDP parades will ensure it remains in power beyond 2015.
He however warned that there should be no complacency as the opposition party was getting stronger by the day.
According to Mantu, “Seeing the quality of people that are here, there is no doubt in my mind that 2015 is already in the pocket of the PDP.
“All of us here are very, very keen on seeing that the PDP performs very well in 2015 and we are very aware that for the first time, we are having an opposition that could be an alternative to the PDP.
“Some of us have been looking for serious opposition because once there is one, you will then begin to look at the kind of criticisms they are giving.”
Also speaking at the event, a former PDP deputy national chairman and ex-felon, Bode George, said the ongoing crisis in the party was normal as he recalled that former President Olusegun Obasanjo faced similar challenges but came out of it unscathed.
