President Goodluck Jonathan has felicitated with a former presidential candidate of the defunct Nigeria Advance Party (NAP), Dr. Tunji Braithwaite, who joins Nigeria’s club of octogenarians today.
In a congratulatory letter to the prominent lawyer, civil rights activist and political leader on the occasion of his 80th birthday, President Jonathan lauded Dr. Braithwaite’s life-long commitment to the pursuit of better living conditions for all Nigerians.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, President Jonathan said, “On behalf of my family, the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I extend warm felicitations to you on the landmark occasion of your 80th birthday anniversary.
“Over the years, you have remained steadfastly committed to the pursuit of the ideals of excellence and selfless service in your personal life, your chosen legal profession, and in your political exertions on behalf of the masses of our nation.
“As you deservedly celebrate this glorious day with your family, friends, protégés, and numerous well-wishers, it is my prayer that Almighty God grants you many more happy years of fulfillment and distinguished service,” the president wrote.
He wished the elder statesman very happy 80th birthday celebrations.
