Liverpool duo of Brendan Rodgers and Daniel Sturridge has been named the Barclays Premier League manager and player of the month for August, following Liverpool’s perfect start to a Premier League season since 1994-95.
The Reds are top of the Premier League table after their 100% start to the 2013/14 season.
Sturridge scored in both of Liverpool’s 1-0 victories in August against Stoke City and Aston Villa to secure the accolade for the first time in his career.
The Reds’ two victories earned Rodgers his award for a second time in his managerial career, the first coming when he was in charge of Swansea City in January 2012.
Liverpool will travel to Swansea for their Matchday 4 fixture on Monday and Sturridge is doubtful for the encounter after injuring his thigh and withdrawing from England’s World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.
