The 2013 edition of the championship is billed for Angola from October 24 to November 3.

The NWBF Technical Director and coach of the national wheelchair basketball team, Adoki Obererilene, speaking in Lagos on Tuesday, said the team’s training routine had to be intensified to sharpen the competitive edge of the athletes for the competition.

He further stated that the measure was imperative to increase their chances of securing the lone slot for African teams at the World Wheelchair Basketball Championship.

“We need to be at the 2014 World Cup in South Korea,” Obererilene said. “That is why we taking the Angola championship seriously.

“The Nigerian team is a force to reckon with in Africa, as far as Wheelchair Basketball is concerned.”

The coach commended the National Sports Commission (NSC), the Lagos State government and Grand Patron, Victor Ochei, for their support towards the success of the nation at the African championship.

He added that the only way the team could show appreciation to its sponsors was to grab the ticket and justify the confidence of their supporters.
