2015: Niger’ll Stick To Zoning Arrangement, Says Aliyu

gov Muazu Babangida AliyuGov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger says zoning in the PDP for the 2015 governorship election “is sacrosanct and binding in the selection and fielding of candidates”.

Aliyu made the announcement in Minna on Wednesday when the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Faruk, paid him a visit to mark the Eid- el-Kabir celebrations.

He said that the PDP would adhere to the zoning policy during the selection process for the 2015 election in the state.

Aliyu said that the zoning policy used in the state, had ensured balancing and stability in political arrangement since 1999, noting that he would resist any attempt to change it.

The governor said that those clamouring for non-adherence to the zoning policy for 2015 were doing so for their ethnic and selfish interests.

Aliyu urged the populace to ensure that the girl-child received both Islamic and Western education to make them play useful roles in society.

Earlier, Faruk called on the people to live in peace and harmony with one another and to also cooperate with constituted authorities to ensure the development of the state.

He said that committees had been set up to handle the 25th anniversary celebration of his installation as the Emir of Minna.

“The committees have swung into action to ensuring that the November date is adhered to,” he said.

A mini durbar and musical entertainment were staged for the governor and members of his cabinet as part of the celebrations. (NAN)
