Agagu’s Burial Holds Today Despite Crash Deaths

Olusegun Agagu

The remains of former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, will be committed to mother earth today as planned, despite the loss of lives in the crash of the aircraft conveying the former governor’s corpse to Akure, Ondo State capital.

Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State, Ebenezer Alabi, said: “We just consulted with the family and have decided to go ahead with the burial.

“More so, the son of the former governor survived and the son-in-law survived. There was no scratch on the casket.

“So while the family sympathised with those that lost their lives and their loved ones, they have decided to go ahead with the burial as was initially planned.”

Also, the body of the former governor, which was still intact despite the plane crash, is in transit to Iju-Odo, his country home and final place of rest.

It was gathered that the family of late Agagu in Iju-Odo had ordered that his remains be conveyed to his home town, yesterday, by road to continue with the burial arrangement, which a family source will be done as planned.

11 persons, including a Commissioner in the state, Deji Falae, top government officials and the crew lost their lives in the crash which happened at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos.

Meanwhile, Mrs Olufunke Agagu, wife of late former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, and her daughters, Solape and Omowunmi, have relocated to Iju-Odo in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state for today’s burial of the ex-governor.

It was gathered that the wife of the former governor insisted that burial arrangements of her late husband will take place as earlier scheduled. A family source said Mrs Agagu insisted that burial plans should go ahead after she confirmed and spoke with her son (Feyi) and son in-law, who were involved in the crash.

The Christian wake-keep was held as scheduled, yesterday, while the body will be interred today.

  1. The BIG Lesson!!!!

Before he became a governor, Olusegun Kokumo Agagu was the Aviation Minister under Olusegun Obasanjo. Under his watch Aviation sector in Nigeria became a death trap and a nightmare for many travellers. Mr. Agagu did nothing to revive or help the sector, but he helped his pocket. His dead body “re-died” alongside of his many other family members, a day before his internment. This reminds me of Abdukarim Adisa as minister of Works. Although he was from Ilorin, Adisa refused to fix the Ibadan Ilorin road. Few years later he died in an accident on the same road. I hope all the other imbeciles ruling Nigeria know that life & death can also be a metaphor. Corruption has a way of fighting back, when you least expect it. Fix Nigeria. You will not only invariably fix your family in the process, but your future, and your future resting place.

  2. Former minister of Aviation died in plane crash. God judge them all. Why didn’t they convey his remains again on Dana Air, why road? What goes around comes around. This country is blessed with everythg but few families are pocketing it. NO PITY

  3. I wonder why some pple still choose to behave like a witch no matter what plan might ve been set aside concerning the burial, it’s just has to be shifted in showing a concern for deceased ppl. Are they been his own son died on the crash would they have continue wt the burial? What a wicked family may the lord have mercy on ondo state in general I fenz they needed nothing but prayer to ameliorate all this mess cos, it’s sound some how ridiculously may the lord console the families of the deceased only God will judge that’s my believe
