Rumours that the Wuse Zone 5 Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) would be bombed yesterday sent staff and visitors scampering for safety as the building was vacated.

It was alleged that intelligence services had on Thursday night intercepted communication by a group, who were planning to bomb the plaza yesterday.

This was communicated to one of the directors in the party by a top security source and he in turn conveyed the information to the party leadership.

It was learnt that soon as the news began to circulate, staff and visitors quickly abandoned what they were doing and hurriedly left the building.

They were seen running helter skelter trying to leave the premises when the news broke out. The secretariat was evacuated in less than 20 minutes with only security personnel left.

Many principal officials of the party also left the secretariat on the basis of the security reports but the party’s national chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and national secretary, Prof Adewale Oladipo, were not in the office at the time.

Meanwhile, many sources have revealed that the bomb scare was real with one of them saying, “It is real; all our ogas have left. We too are leaving.”

As at the time of this report, there has been no official response from the party’s leadership.
