Ekiti Guber Aspirant Tackles Tinubu Over Comments On National Conference

Tinubu1An aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming governorship elections in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has described critics of the proposed National Conference proposed by President Goodluck Jonathan, including former governor of Lagos state Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as selfish and looking for political relevance.

Tinubu had on arrival from a foreign medical trip weekend, criticised the proposed national conference, saying it was diversionary and deceptive.

But in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital yesterday, the governorship hopeful Adeyeye expressed support for the conference and the choice of Senator (Dr) Femi Okurounmu as chairman of the 13-man National Dialogue Advisory Committee.

He said: “Those who are now opposing it are only doing so for fear of losing face politically not that they love Nigeria and her people.”

Adeyeye advised those criticizing President Jonathan for proposing the national conference to rather commend him, if truly they have the genuine peace and progress of Nigeria at heart, adding that “As a staunch member of Afenifere, what we have always advocated for is an avenue for us to discuss and find ways of solving our problems as a nation.”
