Among the afternoon matches played in England on Saturday, Manchester United continued their slow start to the Premier League season with a home draw against Southampton, while Chelsea and Arsenal beat Cardiff and Norwich City 4-1 respectively, as the Premier League enters day 8.

Mesut Ozil scored twice as a late burst sealed Arsenal’s victory over Norwich and extended their lead at the top of the Premier League standing.

Jack Wilshere opened scoring for the Gunners after a lukewarm opening quarter of an hour from Arsene Wengers’ men.

Jonny Howson found the bottom corner with 20 minutes left to fray nerves.

Burt Aaron Ramsey scored a lovely ninth goal of the season to make it 3-1 before Ozil grabbed an easy second.

Chelsea 4 Cardiff City 1

The Blues staged a comeback from a goal down to defeat Cardiff emphatically after scoring an equalising goal which should not have counted.

Jordon Mutch ran through ton put Cardiff ahead after david Luiz’s mistake.

But Eden Hazard leveled after Samuel Eto’O kicked the ball away as Bluebirds’ keeper David Marshall bounced it, which according to Fifa’s rules is a foul.

A well-worked Eto’O goal put Chelsea ahead and, after their boss Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands, Oscar and Hazard sealed the victory.
