“I congratulate the Enyimba FC of Aba for winning the 2013 Federation Cup,” Governor Orji was quoted to have said on the state-owned website (abiastate.gov.ng) read.

“As a soccer loving man, I was at the Teslim Balogun Stadium to watch the Federation Cup final and I could see that our Enyimba FC boys were playing well and might win the cup, as they eventually did with class.

Enyimba’s victory over Warri Wolves in the final match of this year’s Cup helped them earn the right to represent Nigeria in the 2013/14 CAF Confederation Cup while their runners-up position in the same season’s Glo Premier league qualifies them for the 2013/14 CAF Champions League.

“Once again, congratulation to our Pride, Enyimba FC for the great Federation Cup gift to Abians and the African Champions League qualification… Abians are excited and we look forward to hailing you more at the next African Champions League tournament,” the Governor added.
