President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mallam Aminu Maigari has charged the Golden Eaglets to clinically dismantle their counterparts, Sweden, ahead of their Matchday 2 fixture of the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup finals in the United Arab Emirates.
The Golden Eaglets got off to a rousing start following their 6-1 drubbing of the defending champions Mexico in the Group F opening day encounter on Saturday, while Sweden comfortably cruised past debutantes Iraq by a 4-1 scoreline in the other match of the group.
Both teams maintain three points as Nigeria sits at the summit of Group F on goal difference ahead of Tuesday’s decisive tie.
“It is a top-of-the-table clash that we expect our boys to control from the start-to-finish, not allowing the Swedes any breathing space. It would be good for our boys’ confidence if they can qualify for the Round of 16 ahead of the final matches of the group phase.”
“Of course, we know they have the ammunition to do it and they will do it. They are very focused and they have as coaches, some of the most disciplined personalities in the Nigeria game’s history,” Maigari said on Monday.
The venue of the match is the Khaled Bin Zayed Stadium, Al Ain, kick-off time is 5pm Nigerian time.
