The Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V has hailed President Goodluck Jonathan’s decision to st up an advisory committee for the convocation of a National Conference.
The monarch, who was speaking with newsmen in his palace in Calabar, Cross River State, argued that there is no other way of moving Nigeria forward other than coming together to dialogue.
“The coming together of Nigeria started in Calabar but was an accidental and forced marriage by the colonial rulers. What the president has done is what many Nigerians including some of us; the traditional rulers have been calling for, for a long time. I welcome it on-behalf of my subjects and I pray that something good comes out of it that will make Nigeria a better place for us all,” he said.
