Perpetrators Of Wukari, Ibi Crises To Face The Music, Says Taraba Ag. Governor

Garba UmarThe acting Governor of Taraba, Alhaji Garba Umar, has said that perpetrators of the recent crises in Wukari and Ibi Local Government Areas will be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.

Umar said this on Tuesday in Jalingo when he received the report of the Judicial Commission of inquiry into Wukari and Ibi crises.

“Government will take a hard look at the details of the report and act accordingly in a manner that is just and fair.

“Those that have a case to answer will be made to face the music, while those whose hands are clean will have nothing to fear.

“We cannot continue to condone the culture of impunity which has recently been responsible for loss of precious lives and willful destruction of property,’’ he said.

He restated his call on the local government chairmen and traditional rulers to be in the vanguard of promoting peace in their respective domains.

The acting governor also urged the people not to relent in their prayers for Gov. Danbaba Suntai, whom he said, was steadily recovering.

Earlier, Justice Filibus Andetur, the Chairman of the commission, said the crises were not religious as speculated.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that three separate crises erupted within Wukari and Ibi between November, 2012 and February, 2013 where many lives were lost and property destroyed. (NAN)
