The Plateau State government has constituted a committee for the burial of pioneer chairman of Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, and first civilian governor of the state, Chief Solomon Lar.

Lar died at a U.S. hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at the age of 80.

In a statement signed by Mr James Mannok, the Director of Press Affairs to Gov. Jonah Jang on Tuesday, former Information Minister, Prof. Jerry Gana, was appointed as the Chairman of the committee, while Mr I. D. Gyang is the secretary.

Other members of the committee are drawn from Plateau and Nasarawa States, the deceased’s family, the Presidency, as well as office of the Senate President.

The office of the Speaker, House of Representatives, national headquarters of the PDP as well as associates of the late elder statesman, are also to be represented on the committee.

The statement said that the committee had been mandated to immediately commence preparations toward the event.
