The move to adopt an out-of-court settlement in the suit filed by Taraba State Governor Danbaba Suntai challenging the decision of the state House of Assembly and its leadership to reject his letter of resumption to duty was not initiated by the governor, his lead counsel Dr. Alex Izinyon (SAN) has said.
The media had been awash with news that Gov. Suntai had initiated the move following feelers that the outcome of the case was not going to be in his favour.
But in a press statement issued yesterday, Izinyon said “the gloomy picture now being painted to our embarrassment is to the effect that it was the plaintiff (Suntai) who initiated the move. This is not correct and cannot be correct.
Izinyon said the initiative for settling the matter out of court could not have come from Gov. Suntai since he is the aggrieved party in the case, saying instead, the initiative came from the side of the defendants as well as other stakeholders which was communicated to the court.
