We told you about the teen caught with a dead fetus. The story goes like this: A 17-year-old girl who went to a Victoria’s Secret in Midtown Manhattan was caught shoplifting with a friend, and then after having her bags checked, she was found to have the dead fetus of her child in a plastic bag with her at the store. After such a horrific discovery, the young woman told police that she miscarried the day before after being only 6 1/2 months pregnant, and she was taken to the hospital to be checked out, while her child’s remains were taken to the medical examiner.
According to the New York Daily News, an autopsy has proven that the young woman was lying–her child, a boy, was born alive and was almost completely full term, weighing in at 8 1/2 pounds. So the question has now become, how exactly did this baby die? Was it asphyxiation? SIDS? The autopsy was inconclusive when it came to figuring out the way the baby lost his life, and it will take about two weeks for results to come in. Therefore, a full investigation will have to continue to see what happened, and if this teen might have hurt her baby. As a mother already of a healthy two-year-old son, the fact that this young lady hid her pregnancy (those who knew her in the neighborhood didn’t even know she was with child) and then proceeded to carry around the child’s body after his birth (and death) while she did some “shopping” comes off very suspicious. It all sounded like depression initially, but something else is clearly going on.
As previously reported, so far, the young woman and her friend have been charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property for their theft of lingerie and makeup at the store. But could more serious charges come the young mother’s way soon? We will keep you updated on this story.
