Ex-Nigeria international Davidson Owumi has been appointed the managing director/CEO of Warri Wolves following the reconstitution of a new management board.
The Delta State Sports Commission, in conjunction with the state’s football association, on Monday, dissolved the management of the Nigeria Professional Football League club.
The Secretary General of the Delta State Football Association, Mr. Friday Onothoja, said in a statement that the action is aimed at repositioning the club for optimum service delivery. According to Mr. Onothoja, Mr Godwin Abigor is the new Chairman of the Warri-based club, while Owumi becomes the managing director cum CEO.
Emmanuel Ibru and Keneth Nwaomucha were appointed executive directors in charge of Marketing and Youth Development & Strategy respectively. The other appointees include Ogheneochuko Ambakederemo (director) and Lawrence Omohwo who is the secretary of the new board of the club.
“The reconstituted Management Board of the Warri Wolves FC would be inaugurated very soon by the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick,” the press statement from the DFA read.
“In the same vein, 2E Sports, a sports marketing outfit has been appointed as General Consultant to Warri Wolves FC while Vita Veritas, the legal firm of Stephen Agbeyegbe will act as Leagl Adviser.”
Onothoja thanked the outgoing board members for their invaluable support and wished them success in their future endeavour, also assuring them that their experience would be called upon when the need arises.
Meanwhile, the new Board has been given the mandate to tap into the various marketing windows of the organised private sector for its operations and sustainability.
