A 26-year-old man, Rufai Idowu, who allegedly r*ped and killed his 10-year-old cousin, and was arrested by the police has been remanded at Ilesha Prison by an Osogbo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Abiodun Fagboyinbo, told the court that the accused allegedly committed the offence on November 4, at about 5p.m. at Oosa Compound, Ile-Ogbo, in Ayedire Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, the accused allegedly forcefully and unlawfully r*ped the minor when the victim, who was on a visit, came to his room.
He said the accused, after r*ping the victim, later strangled her to the death with the Hijab she wore because she was calling for help.
Fagboyinbo said the offence is contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The plea of the accused was, however, not taken because of the nature of the offence.
Adjourning the matter till January 7, 2014, presiding magistrate, Mr. Adebayo Lasisi, ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesha Prison custody.
