Three suspected illegal oil bunkerers and gun runners have been arrested by operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, in oil-rich Ugborodo community, in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, along with the community’s spiritual head, for allegedly parading himself as a traditional ruler.
This came following a raid, weekend, on the community during which the suspects were picked up and taken to Warri for further investigation.
Speaking to newsmen on the matter, Chairman of Delta State Waterways Committee, DWSC, Chief Ayiri Emami, said he had to report to Police, Soldiers and Navy authorities, the criminal acts of the suspects, to stem any breach of the peace in the area.
Ayiri said that the suspects and their leaders would be arraigned before the state High Court, noting that though no gun was recovered at the time of arrest, investigation was on-going as it was not proper for him to allow the nefarious activities of the suspects to continue unchecked.
He noted that the problem in Ugborodo community was because of the order by the Community Trust Chairman, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi that all illegal bunkering activities be stopped forthwith to protect lives and property of innocent indigenes or the perpetrators would face the wrath of security agencies.
This is actually a lie, a mid calculated attempt to drag readers to a different conclusion different from the real things on ground. The actual situation is a Leadership tussle between the community and Chief Emami and Chief Thomas who have been the head of the community trust for over 8 years. The community have rejected their lordship this has forced this crooked chiefs to employ different means all to try to change the truth. Freedom is all we need. We say No to the Lordship of Ayiri and Thomas
