Abubakar Redeploys Five AIGs, Two Commissioners

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered the redeployment of five Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIGs, and two other commissioners to zonal and state commands or formations for effective policing of the country.

Former Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, AIG Ballah Nasarawa is now the AIG in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia, which covers Abia, Imo, Enugu and Anambra State commands.

AIG David Omojola was redeployed to Oshogbo to head Zone 11 and AIG Tambari Mohammed was moved to the Zone 1, with responsibility for Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States.

AIG Mohammed Gana was redeployed to Zone 12, Bauchi with responsibility for Bauchi, Borno and Yobe States even as AIG Edgar Nanakumor moves to Force Headquarters to head the Animal Branch.

However, Usman Gwary is now the new Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, while Saidu Madawaki moves to Kogi State as commissioner.

The redeployment took immediate effect, according to a statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba.

“The affected officers were charged by the IGP to ensure that they step up the fight against crime and criminalities,” Mba said. He also urged them to ensure that the safety, security of lives and property of the citizenry were not compromised.
