Armed Robbery Foiled By Police In Benue


Men of the Benue State Police Command at the early hours of Wednesday, in Makurdi, killed one Deermberga Tyohuan, the leader of a robbery gang notorious for robbing motorists along Agena Agbeyi road, in Ukum local government area of the state.

Police Commissioner, Adams Audu, while briefing Journalists, in his Makurdi office on Friday, said the wanted robbery suspect also known as ‘commander’ was gunned down while operating with his gang along Agena Agbayi road.

According to him, “On Wednesday at about 8:30am, the Police patrol officers of the Command while on duty received a distress call that seven armed men barricaded Agena Agbayi road and were robbing motorists and commuters going to Peva market in Taraba state.

“On the strength of this, the Patrol officers immediately swung into action and on reaching the scene, the armed men opened fire on them which was swiftly replied leading to the gang leader, one Deermberga Tyohuan, aka ‘commander’ sustaining bullet injuries,” he said.
