Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has extended his Old Trafford contract until June 2015, with a option to serve for a further year.
The former West ham and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who has been sidelined with an Achilles injury for the rest of the year, has been a major boost to United boss David Moyes in his first campaign in charge of the champions, having inherited a depleted midfield from his predecessor.
“He is an exceptional man and a true professional,” Moyes said.
However, it is understood the deal does not include a pay increase from his current £3.5 million-a-year deal.

“It’s great to extend my contract at this club. I’m really enjoying my football. I’ve won many trophies and look forward to move,” the 32-year-old midfielder said.
