Emenike Wants to Be Played Up Front at Fenerbahce

Emmanuel Emenike says more goals will come as he adapts to the challenges at his new club since his return to the Turkish Super Lig leaders Fenerbahce, but believes that could be bolstered by playing him in his preferred position.

The Nigerian striker says he has had to contend with being played on the wing in lieu of his much-preferred out-and-out striker role, a position he opined has narrowed his scoring chances at the Istanbul club.

Emenike has now scored three times in Fener’s last two matches after a barren run in the club’s games early on.

“Well, if I played as a striker, I can get goals as expected,” the 26-year-old forward told fanatik.com. “Right now, I feel very good and fit.”

Fernerbahce tops the Turkish league table with 22 points from nine matches going into the weekend.

“Nice weather we got. Bursapor and Galatasaray are our next two games; we will maintain our leadership by defeating them,” Emenike added.
