Fashola Declares LASTMA Official Wanted

LASTMA

Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola has declared one Mr. Micheal Ekundayo,an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA officer allegedly caught on video “wanted.”

Fashola, who spoke at a meeting with LASTMA personnel said, “I want first to salute the citizen that got the video of the LASTMA officer who was caught negotiating bribe inside a citizen’s car.

“We must all use that kind of medium to fish out all the bad eggs in the society and bring them to justice.

“That LASTMA officer is still on the run and we have declared him wanted. I can assure you today that we will get him. As soon as we do, we will give him all his rights and he will have his day in court,” Fashola said.

Fasola also barred skating on the state highways, saying, “Anyone caught skating on the highways will be arrested and prosecuted.”

Speaking on the ban on skating, Fashola noted that “our children have also taken to skating because the road is safe.

“We aren’t discouraging them from doing so. But they should do that in designated places like recreation centres, stadia and others.”

  2. I do not blame the LASTMA offiicials who have turned themselves into quasi-judges on Lagos roads (Federal Government roads inclusive.)
Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola made them judges over people resident in Lagos so much so that LASTMA officials and the Policemen who assist them, have no regard at all for even senior citizen, officers and men of other uniform organisations e.g, the Army, Navy, Airforce, Customs, etc, in Lagos.
“Power,” they say, “corrupts” and “absolute power,” they say, “corrupts, absolutely.” This is what absolute power has turned LASTMA officials into in Lagos. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRUPT IN ALL RAMIFICATIONS.
The case involving Michael Ekundayo is just one of the millions of such cases in Lagos. And they’ve always gotten away with it because there were no video evidences to prove them. But that is not to say they never happened.
In most instances when their victim has no cash at hand to give them, LASTMA officials, with the active participation and conivance of the Policemen with them, ask their victim if he/she has ATM Card with which to cash the ‘agreed’ amount at a nearby Bank for them. In fact, they accompany their victims to the Banks at such occassions.
It is common knowledge that LASTMA officials operating along Apapa-Oshodi express way, Cele Bus Stop in particular, lay seige on private cars who take one way from Lord’s Chosen Church to Cele and collect huge amounts from them for “driving against traffic,” while the same LASTMA officials would turn a blind eye to Danfo buses committing the same offence at the same time and at the said place. No one dares question them.
If something very serious is not done to curtail this menace, these LASTMA officials and their Police collaborators who are making life very unbearable for people on Lagos roads, will turn themselves into full-fledge robbers dispossessing innocent road users of other valuables on Lagos roads in the name of chekmating traffic violators.
Meanwhile, I salute Governor BRF for the wonderful work he is doing in Lagos. May God Almighty give him the courage to continue, the stiff opposition from his detractors not withstanding.
HOWEVER, HE MUST NOT TURN DEAF EARS TO THE AFOR-MENTIONED AND SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS AND OR OBSERVATIONS FROM WELL-MEANING NIGERIANS, EITHER VISITING OR RESIDING IN LAGOS.
    GOD BLESS US ALL.
