Police in Miami, Florida have launched a manhunt for two gunmen who shot dead a 10-year-old boy in front of his parents during a violent robbery at a nail salon.
Aaron Vu was in the nail salon owned by his parents when the gunmen burst into the shop near closing time with their pistols drawn.
They killed the boy and critically injured his 42-year-old father, Hai Nam Vu.
Miami Herald reports Lynn Vu, Aaron’s mother, and several customers were in the salon at the time.
Police say 10-year-old Aaron Vu was pronounced dead shortly after being shot by the gunmen. Following the shooting police blanketed the area with photos of the two gunmen, who were captured on CCTV bursting into the salon.
“They obviously didn’t think twice about taking a human life, and they’ll do it again,” detective Alvaro Zabaleta told the Herald. “This is not the time for a code of silence. This is not the time to worry about snitching.”
Video footage showed the face of one gunman, who wore a black shirt and red headband. The second suspect had what police said was a red shirt draped around his head like a ski mask.
The video shows the men storming into the store with their guns raised. They are seen a few minutes later, one of them carrying a woman’s purse.
