Two Young Men In Court For Defiling 13-yr-old Girl In Osun

Two middle aged men have been granted bail by an Osogbo Magistrate’s court after being arraigned for allegedly r*ping a 15-year-old girl in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State.

29-year-old Azeez kehinde, and Adeyanju Ismaila, 23, were alleged to have defiled and assaulted the girl simply identified as Pepeye at Igbo-Ile area of Ikirun in the middle of the night.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Mirette Wilson told the court that the two accused men committed an offence contrary to and punishable under sections 516,358 and 360 of the criminal code, cap 34, vol II, laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

Kehinde and Ismaila, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against them.

Counsel to the accused persons, Mr. Adedokun Tunde prayed the court to grant them bail in the most liberal terms as according to him the accused persons were ready to stand their trial before the court.

To back his plea, Adedokun also presented an affidavit sworn by a member of the family of the accused persons to the court as evidence that they were willing to stand their trial.

Presiding magistrate, Mr. Olusola Aluko lamented the involvement of young men in criminal activities, especially the rate at which females were defiled in the state which he noted had contributed to the congestion of the state prisons.

He granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till 6th of December, 2013.
