Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey will miss Arsenal’s remaining yuletide programme after suffering a thigh strain in Thursday’s win at West Ham.
Arsenal reclaimed the top spot of the Premier League standing after beating the ‘Hammers’ 3-1 on Boxing Day coupled with Liverpool’s failure to earn a win at Manchester City.
Theo Walcott scored a brace while Lukas Podolski, who came on as a substitute for the injured Ramsey in the 65th minute, scored on his return to the Gunners’ starting lineup.
“I don’t know how serious Aaron Ramsey’s thigh strain is, but for sure, the Christmas period is certainly over for him,” French boss Arsene Wenger confirmed after the match.
Ramsey has been one of Arsenal’s stand-out performers this season, with 13 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions. He pulled up clutching his left leg after Carlton Cole had already given the hosts the lead.
“I don’t know long it will be, we have to see tomorrow (Friday) morning,” added Wenger.
